Philippine Schoolchildren Taken Hostage in Manila
Wednesday, March 28, 2007Taken from Bloomberg:
- At least two men hijacked a school bus carrying children in the Philippine capital, Manila.
As many as 32 children and two teachers are on board, with the hostage takers demanding free education and housing for 145 pre-school children, ABS-CBN News Channel reported. Senator Ramon “Bong'' Revilla Jr. was allowed to enter the bus to negotiate with the men.
The hostage takers are armed with grenades and handguns, ABS-CBN reported. The bus is parked beside a public park near Manila City Hall, ABS-CBN showed.
Police have redirected traffic and cordoned off the area, which is surrounded by police, media and onlookers. Curtains on the bus are shut, though children were seen peeping out of the windows several times.
The children were on their way to a field trip out of the city when the bus was hijacked, ABS-CBN said.
Well, I was like, "Huh?" I don't get it. Bomalabs. Threatening the lives of kids for the welfare of other kids? The skeptic in me whispers this is staged. Politics here is so showbizzed! Tsk. But then, innocent lives are at stake here.
Do our government officials really need guns pointed on their heads to realize our country needs change and funk the paking system? Damn, I think they do!
Summer heat almost blew our heads off
Monday, March 26, 2007The past weekend was like the warmest, most boring weeked to date. I was bummed I didn't get to see Ziggy Marley (coz no one wants to go with me — sad). I just played badminton with my sister.
Yesterday, we played badminton in the morning, then took some zzzs (hehe). Yeah, I didn't shower. And then I woke up at eleven in the morning because it was so hot I'm like being fried alive. Damn summer heat.
So I went straight to the bathroom and stayed there for an hour. Man, if only I could stay there all day, but my sister has to use it too. Tsk. The heat also woke her up. So that makes it our summer survival guide #1: Take a long LONG bath.
#2: Chug water. Lots of it. If somehow you find water difficult to swallow, shoot some OJ. Or water with lemon. Whatever. Drink lots of fluids.
#3: Damn Meralco cut off our electricity at one in the afternoon. Funk Meralco! But instead of shouting Kurintiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!, we headed to the nearest Jollibee chain and have some lunch. Well, we can't pass up on desserts. My sister had Mango de Crema while mine is Brownie Sundae.
#4: Chill up some more. Our butts ache after an hour-long sitting at Jollibee, so we went to Mercury Drug. We bought hair conditioner to have an excuse to be there, but we needed one anyway.
Chill chill…..When we got home, it was four in the afternoon and it's still freakin' hot, but there's electricity then. Good enough. We turned on two electric fans and wished we had an aircon in our room. Sigh.
Then chugged some more water.

Tiring Thursday
Friday, March 23, 2007Man, I just ate a Starbucks' sausage roll and I'm regretting it. Not that it tastes bad. In fact, it tastes great, but it is 9:30 in the morning and I'm already bloated =(
I had an awful dream last night. The most awful of all dreams. I was watching something on TV (I think it's a football game) in our house in Bataan when I heard my sister screaming from outside. I went out and saw her crying, with two men behind her, one pointing a (I'm googling itak for its English term… Oh yeah, machete) on her back. Then I looked behind and saw my mom and dad with another two men, also pointing their machetes on my parents' back. The odd thing is my mom's not crying, nor I could see fear in their eyes. Just nothing. Then the leader — so that makes them five gangmen, fyi — pulled me near my sister, and then pulled me again to join my parents. Then he said, "Magba-babay na siya (my sister)," then blew his machete on her.
It was 12:45 midnight (I checked my phone for logs). I was so freakin' scared that I called dad in our house. He said they're safe and sound. I hung up, checked on my sister (she's ok), but then I couldn't sleep.
That's when I realized I haven't brushed my teeth from last night. Eeeww. I just changed my clothes fresh from work, then slumped to bed then zzzz. But I was so lazy I shoved it off, then dozed again. LOL. So lazy. I'm always tired every Thursday. Yeah, tiring Thursdays. Dunno why… Must be my body clock. Bleh. So this morning I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth TWICE. Then I spent an entire time scrubbing my face and body in the shower to wash off the pollution from yesterday's work. There.
I was checking on some Hollywood buzz and it seems the current trend there is celebrities checking in to rehab. The latest is him.
Photos of the day:
My sister. My ever-reliable sister. Fun times. I love her for this, and she will kill me for this. Hehehe!
Spidey on the lookout
Thursday, March 22, 2007After 300, the next movie on my watch list is Spiderman 3. A particular scene from its trailer reminds me of the Darna TV series where Darna fought against her dark side. Wala lang. Hehehe!
Anyway, here's a sneak peek/guide/whatever about Spidey and his frenemies.
(just a quick post for today)
